Our Appointments
To visit a podiatrist no referral is required. However if you are claiming though Veteran Affairs, Workers Compensation or Third Party or Medicare you are required to have a referral from your doctor.

Medicare
Under Medicare, effective from the 1st July 2004. The Federal government has allowed people with chronic medical conditions or requiring special care to claim podiatry services. Your doctor will asses your case and determine if you qualify for Medicare service to podiatry. Your doctor will complete an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC)before you can attend podiatry services. Generally, you will be expected to pay at the time of consultation and claim to be reimbursed a portion through Medicare.

Veteran Affairs
If you have Veteran's Affairs Gold Card you qualify for Podiatry service. You will require a D904 form from your doctor. There will be no payment as it is billed directly to Veterans Affairs. Widowed spouses of White Card holders may also be eligible for treatment. This should be discussed with their GP.

Workers Compensation/Third party
If you are claiming podiatry services under this heading, you are required to have a referral from your Doctor, Insurance company or Employer. This will normally come though with a Claim number. If you don't have the appropriate paper work or referral information then you will be charged a time of consultation. If you are not sure, please contact our clinic.

Private Health Funds
All podiatry practitioners working at Macathur Podiatry Group (MPG) are covered by major Health Funds. Private Health Funds generally pay between 70%-90% of the podiatry fee. The funds may also cover services such as Orthotics and podiatry surgery. Your should check your level of cover before consultation.

All MPG Clinics have HICAPS available. HICAPS processes your health fund on site. Most funds participate in this scheme. This service allows us to be paid directly by the Fund and avoids the need for you to claim anything back from the Fund. Health Fund gaps are required to be paid for at the time of consultation. They can be paid by EFTPOS,Credit Card, Cash or Cheque.
